About Waxhaw Woodworks and Sunshine Acres
Our Journey Begins
At the heart of Waxhaw Woodworks lies not just a passion for craftsmanship but a profound commitment to enhancing lives through the beauty and integrity of wood. Nestled within the verdant expanses of Sunshine Acres, our mission emerges clear and strong: to produce the highest quality firewood and cooking & smoking wood, to harness the timeless art of woodworking, and to serve our community.
A Dream Forged in Wood and Love
Waxhaw Woodworks at Sunshine Acres sprouted from Jason and Kara Waddingham’s shared vision of a space where passion meets purpose in the crafting of wood and lumber. The journey began when Jason, standing on the cusp of selling another property, dreamed of building something lasting. He shared his detailed plans for a woodworking operation and a new home on a sprawling property with Kara. Her immediate response – "Sounds good, let's do it" – was all it took to set their dream in motion. Without needing the details, Kara's trust and enthusiasm showed her commitment to their shared dream.
Sunshine Acres: A Canvas for Creation
In 2016, Sunshine Acres became the physical manifestation of this dream. From the untouched woods, Jason and Kara have lovingly sculpted a haven of creativity and life into the 13 acres of untouched woods. Sunshine Acres includes all the necessary infrastructure, outbuildings, a barn, and their dream house. Living full-time at Sunshine Acres since the spring of 2020, Jason and Kara have done much of the work of transforming the property themselves.
A Veteran-Led Mission
As a veteran-owned business, the principles of dedication, commitment, and excellence are deeply ingrained in our foundation. These values shape our approach to craftsmanship and our vision of community and environmental stewardship.
